Brief Summary of The World is Sound

The World is Sound by Joachim-Ernst Berendt is a very powerful book for highlighting just how integral sound is to us, in that it is everywhere. He maintains that The World was created by sound. Berendt goes on to discuss how the universe produces sound which can be perceived through radio telescopy. He discusses how musical processes are present in the structure of molecules. The ear is naturally predisposed to harmonic intervals as well. I really liked the chapter on mantras and how sound is used as a tool to attain altered states of consciousness.
