Some Designs Ideas That Were Incorporated Into My Website

Posted in Website Development on May 7, 2010 by crystallinesphere

The website was kept minimal with easy access being an important part of the design. No more than 3 clicks to get where you want.

The Logo was made simple and easy to recognize. This logo will become an integral part of my branding, for live shows, merchandise etc. It has a passing resemblance to the Batman Symbol which could help with positive associations to the brand.

There are some more tutorials I have been using to complete my website design and they are the Lynda.com’s tutorials on creating a website with dreamweaver.

The music and videos will be added to the site by embedding soundcloud and vimeo respectively onto their relevant pages.

Originally the blog page of the website was going to be set up through dreamweaver. Now the blog will be accessed in the same way through the navigation bar but it will be linked to a separate wordpress blog set up just for news and updates.

New Font Added To The Tool Box

Posted in Website Development on May 5, 2010 by crystallinesphere

Have downloaded and used a new font for the graphic design part of my website, mostly for the logo and home page. I have used a font called “calligraphy ftf” from the website fontsquirrel. It’s similar to the original font that I used but has more of a flourish and looks more “designed.”

Website Ideas

Just some ideas that are informing my website design. In our culture we scan from left to right and from the top of the page, so I have opted to put my logo in the top left corner so that it is always the first thing the viewer will see. I’m trying to create a brand that will be associated to a logo which is easily¬†recognizable. ¬†

The website layout is of few colours to give it a very minimal look (uncluttered) and am using strongly contrasting colours to  make an instant impression on the viewer.
